Step 1.Make sure you have the time to apply

This application will take about 30 minutes to complete once you have gathered your information. You will be able to save your application and resume later if you need more time.

Step 2.Review the requirements

You will need the following information to complete this online application:

• Social Security

• Application Contact Information

• Educational Information

• Prior Business License Information

Depending on your education and experience, and if you are out of state, you may also be required to account for:

• Out of state licensure history

• Education history from the state you already licensed

• Hours experience and/or apprentice hours that you have logged

• School records and transcripts

Step 3.Have your documents ready

You may be required to upload any or all of the following documents in order to complete this application:

• Armed Forces Separation of Service

• Exam Registration

• Social Security Statement

• Verification of Prior or out of state Licensure

• Copy of temporary permit

• Copy of student license (if not previously sent to the board office).

• Other General Correspondence

          Out of State Applicants:    

• Application for Exam completed

• Completed Missouri Training Affidavit

• Certification/Affidavit completed by state board where you obtained training

• Copy of proof of age

• Copy of high school transcript

• State law test

Step 4.Have your credit/debit card ready

For some types of cosmetology licenses, the fee is required upfront. For others, the fee is paid after the State has reviewed your application.

You'll need to enter your credit/debit card information to pay the permit fee. We accept Visa and MasterCard, and ACH payments.
