Equity Program

On February 22, 2021, the State of Augustus voted to create a Equity Program to help small cannabis businesses and those directly impacted by cannabis prohibition. Businesses that qualify will receive a fee reduction when paying for their Augustus Cannabis Regulatory License.

Eligibility Check and Application

You must meet the following conditions to qualify for social equity:

Step 1.Your household income is below 80% of the average median income (AMI) in the State of Augustus for 2018. This amount is calculated based on how many people are in your household. Example: 1 person household $64,550 or less.

Step 2.You have lived in one of the disproportionally impacted zones in the State of Augustus for a total of 5 years from 1971 to 2016.

Step 3.You or a parent, sibling or child have been arrested for or convicted of the sale, possession, use, manufacture, or cultivation of cannabis (including as a juvenile) from 1971 to 2016.

You must upload proof of each element of of social equity with your application.

Program Details

The State of Augustus Cannabis Industry offers preference for businesses which serve and benefit persons from Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Communities

Criteria for these qualifying candidates is set by the Office of Minority, Disabled Veterans, and Women Cannabis Business Development.

Participation includes opportunities for licenses and permits across both medical and adult-use recreation programs.  These include:

  • Cultivators
  • Manufacturers
  • Dispensaries
  • Wholesalers
  • Distributors
  • Delivery Services

Qualifying Businesses

The Commission shall issue a minimum of 30% of all licenses to individuals and businesses which meet one or more of the following criteria:

Certified Minority Businesses

At least 15% of the new cannabis cultivator, manufacturer, and dispensary permits are issued to Certified Minority Businesses

Women's Businesses

At least 15% of the new cannabis cultivator, manufacturer, and dispensary permits are issued to Certified Women's Businesses or Certified Disabled-Veterans' Businesses

Disabled-Veterans' Businesses

At least 15% of the new cannabis cultivator, manufacturer, and dispensary permits are issued to Certified Disabled-Veterans' Businesses or Certified Women's Businesses
