The On-Site Sewage Treatment Systems Program protects the health and environment of Augustus citizens by ensuring that on-site septic systems are properly designed and operated.

The program inspects new residential and commercial on-site septic systems and existing commercial and residential systems subject to property transactions. The program also investigates complaints about malfunctioning on-site septic systems.

How Do I Get A Sewage Treatment System Permit?

Step 1.Complete the Online Application

Using the online form fill out necessary information including key individuals, business organization details, food program details, menus and more.  Please note that depending on the location of your business you may need to secure a local business license before approval of the health permit.

Step 2.Provide Supporting Documentation

The online application tool supports the uploading of digital documents such as menus, construction plans, financial documents and more.

Step 3.Pay Online

Required fees will be automatically calculated based on the current fiscal year's fee schedule.  Payments are accepted in the form of electronic checks and credit cards.

Step 4.Get an Inspection

Once you application has been deemed complete you will need to schedule one or more pre-operational inspections in order to receive your final health permit.
