Step 1.Check if you need an elevator permit

An individual elevator permit is required to operate the following:

  • Passenger elevator
  • Freight elevator
  • Incline elevator
  • Dumbwaiter

If this is the first elevator installed in the facility, you must first apply for a conveyance facility license.  As a part of this process, you can apply for each of the elevator permits at the same time.

Step 2.Make sure you have time to apply

This application will take about 10 minutes once you've gathered the required information identified below. You can save your application and resume later if you need more time.

Step 3.Have payment ready

Fees range from $125 - $1800 depending on the type of elevator. The fee schedule can be found here. Be prepared to pay fees at the time of submission. For online payments we accept Visa and MasterCard.

Step 4.How long does it take?

We issue most elevator permits within 10 business days after we receive your application, unless information is missing or additional information is needed.
