Step 1.Submit a Fire Complaint Form

  • Identify and include the specific descriptions of the complaint or nuisance. What is the single largest concern?
  • Provide the exact address of the problem. If no address, provide the location of property or name of establishment.
  • Provide the names of anyone you spoke to, the chronology of the problem and any efforts to correct the issue.
  • If applicable, attach photos or documents to the online form.
  • If an email address is provided, you will receive confirmation that your complaint was successfully submitted.

Step 2.Complaint Review

  • Each complaint will be reviewed and a case created for enforceable complaints
  • If the complaint is enforceable, a letter will be sent informing the responsible parties of the complaint and requirements to correct the issue

Step 3.On-Site Inspection

  • If necessary, an inspector will follow up with an on-site inspection. If corrections are not completed by required completion date, the process continues and fines may be imposed.
  • Complaints that involve hazardous materials or pose a hazard will be inspected as soon as possible.

Step 4.Complaint Status

Complainants are able to check the status of their complaint online.

If you logged in before submitting your complaint, you'll see the case listed under Case Records.

If your complaint was submitted anonymously follow the steps below to view the status

  • Click the Enforcement tab  
  • Click on the Case Number for more information

Don't see your complaint case record?

  • Search by Site Address, Parcel Number, or Case Number in the General Search section on the main page.

If you choose to call the complaint hotline please make sure to include the following information:

  • Location of problem (exact address, name of establishment, location of property)
  • Primary time/days it is occurring
  • Nature of the problem
  • Any additional details about the problem you observed

While you can provide this information anonymously, you will only receive follow-up if you request it AND provide a telephone number you can be reached.
