Fight Against Blight

The City of Augustus is committed to protect the public health and safety of its citizens. Blight has been a growing problem in our city for a number of years and we are fighting back. With the help of residents, businesses, city leaders, and other neighboring cities who have faced similar problems we have put together 3 programs to tackle blight in our city.

Mow To Own Program

The 'Mow to Own' Program is a 'sweat equity' program where residents may take immediate ownership of a vacant lot in exchange for continually maintain the lot, including regular mows and debris removal, for twelve months.

Green Space Project

Property owners can receive tax incentives for transformation their unused properties into properties into green spaces for the community. This can include parks, recreational spaces, community gardens, farmers markets, etc.

Property Maintenance Program

The City of Augustus property maintenance teams maintains properties until they can be sold and rehabilitated. These properties are sold as little as $1000 and includes Supportive Housing Program funds available to those serving low-income households.
