Apply for a Sprinkler Permit

Do you need to install/update sprinkle device in a commercial building? This is the service to attain that permit.  These instructions do NOT apply to fire permits that are within a new construction/master building permit. 

NOTE: Any residential property with three habitations or more is considered commercial, for these purposes.

Step 1.Determine the type of permit you need

  • If you are applying only for a new sprinkler to an existing building, and are doing no other work to your property, continue below.
  • If you're doing new construction, and fire is one of your sub-permits, you do not need to apply (as below), this will simply be part of your master construction permitting process

Step 2.Collect your documents

The below documents are what you'll need for this process

  • Shop drawings of the system being installed (usually drawn up b an engineer). 

NOTE: If you are installing 50 or more devices, these drawings must be signed and sealed

  • All building information (address, folio #, owner, etc.)
  • Qualifier information - this is who will be doing the work, Usually, a contractor.
  • Secification/cut sheets from the manufacturer for any and all equipment to be installed

NOTE: The City of Augustus' electronic plan review now follows a strict standard naming guideline for all files that will be uploaded (see below)

Step 3.Make sure you have time to apply

This application will take about 20 minutes once you've gathered the required information identified below. You can save you application and resume later if you need more time

Step 4.Have payment ready

Be prepared to pay fees associated with your permit. 

Step 5.Await approval, finalization

Once your plans have been approved, you will be required to complete several finalization steps, which may include "Adding/Updating Contractor" or paying any outstanding feeds that may be applicable.
