If you are planning to operate a business out of your home where all of your customers are online or where you take products/services to your customers, you are good to go! You don't need to apply.

Step 1.Check Eligibility 

No more than 2 adult customers, clients, students, or patients shall be on the premises at any one time. Make sure you don't owe money to the City. We're unable to issue you a business license if you don't meet these requirements.

PROPERTY REQUIREMENTS
You’ll need to make sure that your property is zoned properly. You can call the zoning department at 555-123-4567. We recommend that you make sure you have this before applying for your license to avoid long delays.

Step 2.Gather Your Information

Here's a look at what you'll need to complete your application:

  • A floor plan of the entire home with business space clearly
    indicated.    
  • A letter of approval from authorized Condominium Association
    (if applicable).

You'll need the following information for ALL owners, partners, or corporate officers:   

  • Name
  • Address
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security Number
  • Driver's license or State ID number
  • Date of Birth
  • Email address

Step 3.Have Your Payment Ready

There is a $449 application fee for a first issuance of a license. You can renew your first issuance twice. There is a $139 application fee for renewals.

Step 4.We'll Review your Application 

You will receive email notification indicating we received your application. It takes us 5-10 business days to process applications. Keep in mind that it may take longer to process your application if we find that you need to make changes. You will be notified by email if changes are necessary. Once approved, you will receive your license via email attachment. 

The license must be displayed openly on the property where all customers can see.

Step 5.Renew Your License

We use a standard licensing year of July 1 through June 30 for all businesses. Your license will expire on June 30 regardless of when you apply. The fees are also the same no matter when you apply during the year. So make sure to plan accordingly.
