The City of Wallsburg is represented by a City Council with diverse backgrounds and a strong commitment to public service.
City Manager
Function
The City of Wallsburg operates under the council-manager form of government. The City Council appoints the City Manager who is the chief executive officer and head of the administrative branch of the City government.
Responsibilities
The
City Manager is responsible to the
City Council for the proper administration of all City affairs. The City Manager and Deputy City Manager work closely with the City Council and the department directors to ensure the highest quality of life to the residents and businesses of Wallsburg.
City Manager Jenny Jinkens
Jenny Jinkens was unanimously confirmed as the City Manager for the City of Wallsburg on March 4, 2019. Her first official day was April 1, 2019.
The City Manager's public administration career includes:
- Deputy City Manager/Chief Operating Officer (2017-2019), Assistant City Manager/Chief Financial Officer (2012-2017), Chief Financial Officer (2010-2012) and Director of Finance (2007-2010) for the City of South Park.
- Assistant Director, Financial and Strategic Services (2000-2007) for the City of Grand Prairie.
- Budget Manager (1999-2000), Senior Budget Analyst (1998-1999) and Budget Analyst (1996-1998) for the City of Langdon.
Education
From the University of North Wallsburg, Jinkens has earned a bachelor of business administration and a master of business administration. She also holds a master of science, accounting and information management from UNT.
Organizations
She is a member of the Municipal League, Government Finance Officers Association, Government Finance Officers Association of US, Public Power Association, City Management Association and the International City/County Management Association.
